A Tribute to Dianna L. Sharp...
Dianna L. Sharp was a crossing guard at Scioto Darby Elementary School in Hilliard, Ohio. She gave the ultimate sacrifice while performing her duties. On Thursday April 10th, 2008 she lost her life while protecting the life of a young child crossing the street to school.
Packrat Comics is located just a couple blocks from where Dianna Lost her life that sad day... The owners wanted to give back to show their appreciation for the life of a true hero. With Free Comic Book day on May 3rd, 2008, it seemed the obvious moment to gather skills, time and money to give back to the families of those affected by this unfortunate event.
Beetoons' artist J.D. Larabee was asked to create a poster as a tribute to our local hero:
By purchasing this art-print, 100% of all donation will be given to the funds set up for Dianna L. Sharp's family and Christian Engle, the child she saved that day.
When it was announced that Packrat was going to sell prints and coloring pages for donations to the funds, community support was overwhelming.
The Hilliard, Ohio Office Max offered COMPLETELY FREE services printing HUGE laminated posters, prints, coloring pages and Donation "Stop Signs" to be given out at 10 local stores.
The following Comic Book stores offered to be a part of the donation campaign on Free Comic Book Day:
